Modern dentistry bears little resemblance to the dentistry of ten or twenty years ago. Dr. Castaneda received extensive training in Dental Phobia Management during her residency at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City.
To further help alleviate fear of dental treatment, nitrous oxide sedation is available; Virtual reality goggles can be used which allow the patient to view a movie while undergoing a procedure or stereo cassette headphones can be used to tune out the dental sounds.
Our dentist is skilled in soothing the anxious patient, and our patience and encouragement have gone a long way in providing our patients with ease and comfort in their anxious moments.
Pharmaceutical anti-anxiety medication is available to those patients with higher levels of fear. As a last resort, a Dental Anesthesiologist can be scheduled to perform I.V. sedation while Dr. Castaneda performs her magic.
