3. TMJ (Jaw problems)
Temporomandibular joint disorders are a painful condition involving the joints that open and close the mouth. The disorder may affect the jaw joints or the muscles surrounding it. The temporomandibular joints are the small joints in front of each ear that attach the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull. Surgery is the last option to in the treatment of this disease. Arthroplasty Surgery involves the operation on the jaw and Condylotomy surgeries involve removal of a part of the jaw bone.
Physical Therapy involving massage or stretching exercises, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) may reduce the pain associated with TMJ. A Prosthodontic specialist has had additional years of training to be able to diagnose and treat TMJ problems.
