2. COSMETIC DENTISTRY

The purpose of cosmetic dentistry. is to improve the appearance of the teeth using reshaping, orthodontics, bonding, bleaching, veneers, or implants. Cosmetic dentistry. improves the appearance of damaged, discolored, misshapen, or misaligned teeth.

Crowns add strength to weakened or worn teeth. There are various types of crowns. Tooth colored crowns add strength to weakened teeth, and seamlessly match the surrounding teeth in shape and color to give your mouth a healthy and beautiful smile. Tooth colored fillings are also available to replace older amalgam silver fillings, and match the tooth color and shade.

Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain, which are bonded permanently to the front of the tooth. Veneers provide cosmetic covering to the chipped, worn, stained, crooked, or discolored teeth. A specialist doctor in Prosthodontics makes use of veneers and crowns to improve and enhance your appearance.

A Prosthodontist can make a full denture, when all teeth have been lost or extracted, or partial dentures. Complete dentures replace all the teeth where as partial dentures can replace one or several teeth. Dentures are no longer the only way to restore missing teeth. The strategically placed support of implants can now be used to support permanently cemented bridges that more closely resemble the “feel” of real teeth. Not everyone is a candidate for implants, and with modern materials, dentures can approximate the look of real teeth almost as well as fixed bridges.
