For millions of Americans with missing teeth, dentures offer an opportunity to lead a normal, healthy life. Although nothing can look, feel and function just like your own natural teeth, a well-made denture can restore your much deserved comfort and beautiful smile.
Several types of dentures are available to individuals with missing teeth. The one best for you depends on the number of missing teeth, where the gaps are located, and the condition of any remaining teeth.
Complete dentures replace all the teeth in one jaw. Implant-supported complete dentures are a prosthetic device that replaces all the teeth in one jaw, and are stabilized in the mouth by the implants (see Dental Implants). Implant- supported partial dentures can sometimes be removable, but are most often non-removable.
Partial dentures replace several teeth and are stabilized by the remaining teeth with metal clasps and supports. "Precision" partial dentures differ in that the components are hidden.
