Dental Implants
(cont)
The Subperiosteal Implant: The Subperiosteal Implant is used when there is not much bone present to support Endosteal Implants. A metal frame is placed on top of the jaw protruding through the gum to hold the prosthesis. This type of implant does not integrate with the bone, but rides on top of it.
The Ramusframe Implant: The Ramusframe Implant is designed for the toothless lower jaw only and are surgically inserted into the jaw bone in three different areas: the left and right back area of the jaw (the approximate area of the wisdom teeth), and the chin area in the front of the mouth. Like the Subperiosteal and Transosseous implants, it is not commonly used.
